Ulrike Leyens is a photographer and Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of Westminster. After graduating with a degree in Photography at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld, Germany, she moved to London to complete her MA in Design and Media Arts at University of Westminster.
Ulrike’s work is firmly based in editorial and documentary photography. She has long and well established relationships with publishing houses in Germany, Switzerland and the UK, which have led to many publications of her work in the past 12 years and continue to send her on commissions for prestigious magazines like Der Spiegel, Stern, Die Zeit, Brigitte, Lufthansa Magazin and Financial Times Deutschland amongst many others.
With an interest in portraiture and the built environment, Ulrike keeps exploring people’s lives and their surroundings with her photographic practice. Other areas of interest include book production, book publishing and editing for magazine and book formats.
