Sarah Doerfel is an artist based in London and Munich. She was born in Neuburg, Germany and moved to the UK in 2009 and will graduate from BA (Hons) Photography at University of Westminster in 2013. Sarah’s photographic work explores pictures in a content-less approach where only colours and shapes are perceived. In her objects, she depicts thoughts and feelings with natural and found materials.
“Extensions” is an ongoing series of small analogue photographs that are connected through transitions of shapes and colours. The things depicted on the photographs loose their meanings when searching for the combinations, and only their appearance as colours and shapes in the photographic rectangle remains. The meaning returns into the images when looking at the ready combinations, and new associations and relationships between the objects evolve.
